Headless body found at Tuas

A HEADLESS corpse was found bobbing close to the reclaimed south-western coast of Singapore on Tuesday afternoon.

The left arm was also missing from the body, which is believed to have belonged to a dark-skinned man.

Police later fished out the body from the waters.

Thai workers digging up stones on the shoreline off Tuas South Avenue 1 made the grisly discovery at about 1.25pm.

One of the workers saw the body floating about two metres from a water breaker and alerted his boss, who called the police.

The police spent about 9 hours retrieving the body due to the rough terrain and stormy seas.

The Civil Defence was called in at about 7pm and the body was finally sent to the morgue at 11pm last night.
Sudong, 44, was driving a pickup to the other end of the construction site when he saw a large beige object on the beach which he thought was a rock at first.

When he drove closer, he thought he saw a pair of jeans but still did not realise it was a body.

He then stopped to take a closer look, and was shocked to see that the object was an armless body, and the head was highly decomposed.

"I didn't dare to walk any closer, and just called my supervisor directly. As it was high tide, the body was washed more than 200m from the shore," Sudong told Shin Min Daily.

The body was barefoot and shirtless, and dressed only in blue jeans.

Besides missing his left arm and head, his right foot was gone, and his intestines were exposed.

No identification documents were found.

The police has classified the find as an unnatural death case.
