thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, it is a medical error. You can write to the hospital and file a complaint.
This is only one example. Sometimes, even the best surgeon can miss interpreting the xrays. Your point is well taken.

But again, it does not mean that the whole healthcare system is flawed. The er sees thousands of cases and missing one does not reflect badly on the department or the hospital. In usa, limbs are amputed wrongly. In world class usa and uk, breasts are removed wrongly. Eyes are operated wrongly. Medical mishaps happen everywhere in the world.

I still firmly believe that our medical healthcare system is still affordable and it is one of the best in the world.

If you could be more gentle and behaved in a more friendly manner, you could help to co-manage your fil with the er doctor. You are no doctor but you talked like one.you could make a clinical diagnosis of fracture without looking at the xrays. You should be sitting there instead of the er doctor. You screamed at the doctor.what sort of behaviour is this? You refused to take your fil home and you concluded you stomped out of the ae. So much contradictions.

Nothing to do with pap. Nothing to do with the government.nothing to do with kopi or kopishit or a spineless papshit. You can't even control your emotions and you can't even get your kopi correct. How can you be a good doctor? Look into the mirror and see the ugliness inside. Thank you for sharing. We all make mistakes. We are not infallible, even doctors are not infallible.

i fully agree with you.
Screaming at the doctor and he is proud of it!
What an asshole!
If you are not happy, go get a second opinion from another hospital.

If this idiot thinks all drs suck, then go get a medical degree himself and open a free clinic.

That fracture was probably a small crack which didnt need intervention anyway.

Our medical system is too cheap as far as the a&e are concerned.
Thats why the a&e is jammed packed with patients.

because its called the Accident and Emergency. there's no "accident" in "general practitioner"

please don't talk nonsense
my GP does everything
he treats many accidents - burns and lacerations
some singaporeans just want to clog up the AE to save money
even if they have a cold they go to AE
and some companies to accept MC from GPs
so many must go to AE.....the problem is not an easy one...

I suffered a small gash similar to that one when I fell off my bike many years ago. I wasn't bothered by it.

Why people with minor injuries insist on going to a GP is beyond me.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I suffered a small gash similar to that one when I fell off my bike many years ago. I popped into the nearest GP and he stitched it up for me and had me out the door in less than an hour.

Why people with minor injuries insist on clogging up A & E is beyond me.

If you think that all these are not caused by PAP, then you're seriously wrong. LKY has said that his party will meddle and interfere in every facet of citizens lives. So if you want to claim credit for the good things, be man enough to take the blame for the faults.

On the occasion I screamed at the doctor is due to his incompetence. I could have been a doctor if I wanted to but I'd rather not earn millions And make mistakes that affects other's lives. It does not take a genius to be a doctor.

If you think this is the only episode that I have encountered wrt to Singapore's medical incompetencies, you're sorely mistaken. There are too many personal experiences to conclude that our system has failed. Period.

Not really, I had a stomach ulcer rupture, was throwing up blood, I have to wait in the ER in Long Beach ( forgot the hospital name) for nearly 6 hours, think year is 1980 or 81......:*:

Hospitalize for 1 week, single room ward, the bill came up to 10k plus, lucky for me insurance cover it....

yes indeed 1980, american A&E is very good at that time, but it is 2013 now.
In 1986 they pass a law to provide care to anyone needing emergency healthcare regardless of citizenship, legal status or ability to pay. EMTALA and A&E in USA gone down the lokang since then.

PS: i hope ah peh in this forum, stopping giving outdate information as facts, even singapore police used to wear shorts.

An american fren told me that he was sent to the emergency ward n he had to pay as he was a yank. The illegals were there n they did not pay. He had to queue as per normal even though he paid and have health insurance. Such a stupid policy.no wonder right wing Nazis r on the rise.

very stupid law, but it is american, they have lots of stupid law there. even if you pay through the nose with medical insurance, you probably die in Emergency department because illegal mexico cogging up the department, why they are there, because it is free.

think about it.

I doubt the doctors these days, know how to stitch up a wound like that?? but you are right on why people go the A&E. But the argument on why not to go to an A&E here is long....believe the MOH knows about. I had referral by my doc, over a Saturday to go A&E if my BP does not improve over Sunday...& I checked in A&E on Sunday..got attended in 30 mins, was fortunate to have a heart specialist on duty at A&E that Sunday..they kept me on observation for 6 hours & check, found nothing was wrong except for stress of work that drove he heart beat & BP to fluctuate. What surprised me was, the doctor from the A&E, called me on my mobile, the next day to ask if I am ok...

What I am saying is, there are bad or good experiences at A&E..& which hospital you check in...I have help to bring in a child who fell out of bed at 3am in the morning...went to the nearest hospital, & it was jam packed with people...after 6 hrs & the child was groaning..I told the parents..take the child to Mt.Alvernia...it is money...you have money...your chances of survival is higher..chances at least, but not guarantee you will survive.

It is not fair to bash A&E...like you had mentioned...people go there for convenience over a Sat or Sun or holidays...for no doctor is open or they do not bother to search for a 24 hr clinic near them. They can pay the $98 for A&E..might as well find the nearest 24hr clinic...then again, their perception is seeing a doctor in a hospital..

the situation is like a dog chasing its tail...

Thats a small wound!
No vital structures in its vicinity.
It needs treatment but its certainly not an emergency.
Simple pressure on the wound would stop the bleeding.
Fainting ?? Come on!
Mostly likely stomper added it in for drama!

I remember having an operation on Xmas eve. While recovering in my room the wound started bleeding & I almost fainted. The nurses weren't initially concerned because it is normal to bleed after an operation. However the bleeding did not stop & I almost fainted. The nurses who were initially unconcerned became worried enough to page the doctor. I remember the doctor coming in all dressed up:eek: Obviously he was out celebrating when he got paged. This was Xmas eve and in Canada the Xmas holidays is a serious holiday.

From my experience I know that bleeding can cause you to go into shock.

Anywhere in the world, after the wound is healed, the smiling at you is over & the patting on the back, wishing you good recovery & best of health...wait, you see the bill...that wound is the hardest...you will go into a shock & you will be back in treating another wound.... ha ha ha ha
