US congress & president were convinced that KMT was just a bunch of greedy bastards who only wanted to enrich their pockets,and they saw in Chiarman Mao,a new generation of young Chinese leaders with idealism,to build up China,remember at that time,cold war has not started and CCP was not considered an enemy.

During China cultural revolution,President Chiang was planning a major offensive to go back to China,the intending staging post was Myanmar border which at that time still had substantial KMT troops remained at the Sino-burmese border,it was vetoed by USA.

W/o support of Uncle Sam,there was nothing that Taiwan could do.
and Senior Chiang passed away on 1975

ROC economy collapse after 1947 was not due to the massive KMT corruptions ( Communists records ) but the scheming and sabotage works of Communist Harry Dexter White and Cronies in U.S. Treasury department and CCP spy Ji Chaoding in China Finance Ministry. The 8 years Sino-Japanese war ruined China economy, Ji Chaoding deliberate awful advice on KMT disastrous monetary policy caused massive inflation and China economy inevitably collapsed. More KMT troops started defecting to CCP when the central govt cannot pay or feed them. Peasants start to rebel against the central govt. ROC economic collapse ( CCP sabotage ) was the catalyst for social disruption and peasants switching support to CCP.

Roosevelt and Truman official policy for China from 1941 were to preserve the territory and administrative integrity of the Republic of China and to support Chiang Kai Shek as leader of central govt of China. Why did USA eventually abandoned ROC to face her defeat alone in 1949 to the disbelief of the free world who were fearing Red China and Soviet Union alliance.

Truman was misled or deceived by the American communists or pro Soviet elements ( Marshall, Acheson, Hopkins, Lattimore etc... ) who had infiltrated his govt, taken over control of American state of department thus directed USA failed policy toward ROC. The Russians and CCP knew in no doubt that ROC was heavily depleted, on the verge of collapse after WW2. ( politically, financially, militarily and spiritually ) If they can stop American assistance to ROC militarily and financially, Chinese Nationalists will be defeated.

Yes,a lot also had to do with human relationship or chemistry.

Mdam Chiang who had her school education in USA was the front lady facing the USA,some how she did not get on with Presdient Truman.

It is the same with us,MM LKY has the chemistry with the Yanks,especially corporate America,he is their darling,an English speaking China man,some one who serves their interest very well.

LKY was rather lucky that he faced Uncle Sams who are not like Chinamen who go into great details,a China man would not forget how he scolded & humuliated powerful Uncle Sam publicly and internationally at that time when uncle Sam did not response quick his request to send a specialist to treat his dear wife because probably his name was not even on the list of President John Kennedy!

Taiwan has to give in to PRC due to its non-nation status. That is a big dent to their pride but they need the $$$$ from PRC buyers. But in the end, most Chinese is care about $$$.

Only the DPP and southern Taiwanese are complaining. The rest just want to earn money. Chinese people are practical after all, they just want to earn $$$$. Same theory goes for Malaysian Chinese and Indonesian Chinese despite them getting oppressed.

In a typical democracy,it is now 51% for KMT & 49% for DPP.and is inline with human nature.

When 50% are for one view,probably 50% would be against.

66.6% of Singaporeans are clueless when it comes to politics. Taiwanese are smarter but they sure need to learn from the Japanese when it comes to Parliament civility.

Mainlanders are ruthless and cunning with no conscience.
